Broccoli and Green Beans...

This is a scrumptious recipe that my whole meat-loving family likes! A little on the spicy side, but sooo good w/ a little sea salt ground on top! This was served with Tsasa's Mongolian Beef and some warm, crusty ciabatta bread...

Your ingredients... Silly me tho, didn't know I was gonna post this recipe so didn't take pics of the boiling and ice-water.. So you shall just have to imagine that part!

After the beans and broccoli have drained.. add your garlic to the hot oil in the skillet... Only for about 45 seconds tho, otherwise they will make a bitter taste in this dish.

toss the beans, broccoli and seasonings into the garlic infused oil

Voila' a yummy side dish!!!

Broccoli and Green Beans

8 cups broccoli florets
1/2 lb green beans
2 TBSP olive oil
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
3-4 shakes of red pepper flakes (more or less as desired)
sea salt and pepper to taste

In a large pot, bring 6 quarts of water to a boil. Have ready a large bowl of ice water. Place broccoli into pot and cook for 2 minutes.. You are just parboiling so keep that in mind! Remove the broccoli and shock it in the ice water. When completely cool, drain in a colander. Refresh the bowl of ice water and bring the water back to a boil. Repeat with the green beans except boil for 4 minutes.. Shock, cool and drain! In a large skillet, heat olive oil.. When almost smoking, add garlic and saute for about 45 seconds. When it begins to brown, remove immediately and discard. Add the green beans, broccoli, and pepper flakes and cook for 5 minutes. Season w/ salt and pepper. Serve immediately!

  1. This looks like something I would like, but Carson would probably only taste it. He is not much of a vegetable lover. I don't think I would want to eat something so spicy right now though =0)
